Marked by Prayer Week 2: Then God Works

In this sermon, Pastor Trenton Dorner preaches from Matthew 7:7–11.

At Hope Church, we believe that we don’t pray before we work, prayer is the work, and then God works. In Week 1 of Marked by Prayer, we learned that prayer is our part. This week, we explored several ways God works in response to our prayers.

We also tackled questions like:
• Why haven’t I received what I’ve been praying for?
• Why doesn’t God always respond quickly?
• Do I even need to pray if God already knows what I need?

We kicked off a brand new two-week sermon series called, Marked by Prayer.

In this sermon, Pastor Scott Worthington preached from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. At Hope, we believe that we don’t pray before we work - prayer is the work, then God works. Prayer is our part and we were taught what prayer is and given a vision for what happens when we engage in the work of prayer.

The Gospel of Mark | Peter Denies Jesus

In this sermon, Pastor Scott Worthington preaches from Mark 14:66–72, where Peter denies Jesus.

The Jesus that Peter was experiencing was different than the Jesus that Peter wanted, and that led him to deny knowing Him. Unfortunately, we see this still happening today where many follow a version of Jesus they hope will bring success or fulfill their dreams, but when He doesn’t, they, like Peter, may say, “I don’t know that man.”

The Gospel of Mark | Truth on Trial

This weekend, we were honored to have Pastor Eric Shelner, our Congregation Pastor of Hope Church Boulder City, with us. He preached from Mark 14:53–65, where Jesus stands before the council.

The Gospel of Mark | Jesus is Arrested

In this sermon, Pastor Scott Worthington preached from Mark 14:43-52 - when Jesus was arrested.

On the night of Jesus’ arrest, we see these four moments happening: (1) Judas betrays Jesus, (2) Peter strikes the servant of the high priest, (3) Jesus being arrested, and (4) the disciples fleeing.
