As we kick off our series, Good News for Everyone, Pastor Scott preaches from 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

Though our key verses are 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, we also walk through the Romans Road, a path Christians have used for many years to communicate the gospel. As we walk down this road, we’ll clearly see what the gospel is and why it really is good news for everyone.

There is a version of Christianity being sold that says following Jesus means everything will go well for you. But the truth is this: Follow Jesus, and you get Jesus, come what may.

Stephen was a faithful follower of Jesus who was martyred for speaking the truth of God’s Word. His story reminds us that we too will face hardship as we follow Jesus. But in whatever we’re facing, we can take comfort in knowing that we are not alone. God is with us.

To a weary and discouraged nation living in exile, God promised the Israelites that He could take what had been ruined and create something with purpose again. He promised they would go out with joy and be led forth in peace. That same promise of restoration, joy, and peace is still extended to us through Jesus today.

However, as followers of Jesus, we can remain confident in the face of opposition.

As we study this passage, we see that problems are inevitable as the church grows. Pastor Scott shows how relevant this truth is not only for our church, but also for our personal lives. One principle we learn is that failure isn’t always the result of sin. Sometimes, failure is simply the result of human limitation.

As the disciples continued proclaiming the good news, they faced increasing persecution. Yet rather than obeying the demands of others to stop, they chose to obey God and remained faithful to their mission. In the same way, followers of Jesus today may face opposition when sharing their faith in places where Christ is resisted. The question we must wrestle with is this: What will we do when speaking about Jesus comes at a cost?
